Clinton National Airport Ready for Busy Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend unofficially marks the beginning of the summer travel season, and Clinton National Airport is preparing for increased passenger traffic. More than 30,000 passengers are expected to depart from Little Rock over the next several days– a 5 % increase compared to the same period last year.

The Transportation Security Administration projects that 31,862 passengers will be screened at the Little Rock Airport between May 21 and May 27. Friday, May 22, is expected to be the busiest travel day, with more than 5,200 departing passengers traveling through LIT.

Just in time for the holiday weekend, nonstop service to three popular vacation destinations returns to LIT this week. Allegiant Air is offering seasonal nonstop flights to Orlando-Sanford, Destin/Fort Walton Beach and St. Pete/Clearwater throughout the summer. Southwest Airlines will also begin Saturday nonstop service to Orlando on June 6.

Airlines recommend travelers arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure to allow extra time for parking, ticketing, security screening and concessions during this busy travel period.

The airport’s curbside canopy is now open and designated exclusively for departing passenger drop-off. The covered area provides protection from rain and wind while improving traffic flow at the terminal entrance. Travelers may review parking options in advance on the airport’s website. Those assisting departing passengers or picking up arriving travelers can take advantage of free short-term parking for up to 45 minutes in the East Economy Lot, located across from the ticket lobby and baggage claim.

Travelers who do not have a REAL ID-compliant form of identification are encouraged to complete TSA’s ConfirmID process online before arriving at the airport. Passengers should also download their airline’s mobile app to receive schedule updates and important notifications while traveling.
