TSA Confirm ID begins February 1, 2026

Beginning February 1, passengers without a REAL-ID or another acceptable form of ID must use ConfirmID, TSA’s new alternative identity verification system. ConfirmID verification is valid for a 10-day travel period and will cost $45 per passenger.

Currently, more than 94% of passengers already use a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification. TSA urges travelers who do not have a REAL ID to schedule an appointment at their local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to update their ID as soon as possible.

In addition to a REAL ID, acceptable forms of ID include a U.S. passport or passport card, trusted traveler cards such as Global Entry and select government-issued ID cards. A complete list of acceptable forms of identification is available at www.tsa.gov. A non-REAL ID-compliant state driver’s license is not an acceptable form of ID and will require use of the fee-based ConfirmID system to fly.

The ConfirmID identity verification process will take place prior to passengers entering the TSA security line. Payment of the fee must occur in advance of reaching the TSA checkpoint and may be completed online via Pay.gov, which can be accessed through TSA’s website. Travelers who use ConfirmID should expect additional screening time.
