Airport Business

Art Program

We're excited to announce that the airport has launched an Art in the Airport program that will give travelers a sense of place as they arrive in Arkansas. This multi-phased initiative will feature the work of talented artists to showcase the unique array of the state's natural beauty, arts and culture. Opportunities are now open to artists currently residing in Arkansas or those who have lived, worked or studied in the state.

Calls for Artists

Eligible artists must currently reside in Arkansas or have lived, worked or studied in the state.

All you have to do to apply for these opportunities is submit a short statement about your art practice and how you might address the project, your artist resume or CV, your professional references and images of your past work through the application links below. No need to create a design at this time! Up to three finalists will be selected to develop concept proposals for each of the two opportunities. Submissions for both opportunities are due August 23, 2020. To be considered for both projects, artists will have to apply for each opportunity separately.

Terrazzo Floor Artwork Project

This opportunity is for a site-specific terrazzo floor artwork located in the concourse exit area. The project should celebrate the natural beauty of the region and welcome people to Little Rock and Arkansas.

The selected artist will create a custom design for the floor.  LIT will contract for fabrication and installation. The selected artist will receive a design fee of $10,000. A separate budget will be set for fabrication and installation and will be paid by the Airport.

This opportunity is for a site-specific wall-mounted work or installation project located on a curved wall in the concourse exit. The project should celebrate the natural beauty of the region and welcome people to Little Rock and Arkansas.

Selected artist, or artist team, will design a custom site-specific artwork that will be fabricated from durable, low maintenance materials.  The selected artist will receive a design fee of $10,000. An additional budget (estimated at $90,000) will be set for fabrication and installation and will be paid by the Airport. Based on the selected artist’s concept proposal, and in consultation with the artist, LIT may contract for the fabrication and installation with an outside contractor or may contract with the selected artist for fabrication and installation.
